Three trends we expect to shape printed Point of Sale (POS) materials in 2025.
Here are three trends we expect to shape printed Point of Sale (POS) materials in 2025.
1. Integration of Augmented Reality (AR)
Lots of our clients are talking to us about AR-enabled POS Displays. It’s a safe prediction for 2025 that printed POS materials will increasingly incorporate QR codes and NFC (near field communication) technology that, when scanned, will trigger augmented reality experiences on mobile devices.
If you’re looking to incorporate interactive experiences, without overcrowding your printed materials, you might like to consider using one of the the top five ways we’re seeing our clients achieve with QR and NFC:
- Enhanced static product displays.
- Product demos.
- Installation instructions.
- And additional product information.
2. Smart and Connected POS Displays
Our clients are seeing some great results from the print and digital connection, something we’re always up for shouting about! Most of us carry a smartphone with us wherever we go and that isn’t about to change any time soon. For this reason, we’re predicting that the use of smart and interactive POS displays will be big in 2025.
Some ways our clients have seen success utilising this technology for their POS Displays include:
- Embedded smart sensors – collect customer interaction data or trigger specific actions (e.g., lighting up or changing messaging when approached).
- Printed Displays that interact with in-store WiFi – make the shopping experience more dynamic and responsive
- RFID chips – enabling POS materials to communicate with smartphones or store systems for real-time engagement and inventory updates.
3. Tactile and Multisensory Design
Print that you can touch, smell and interact with holds something special that digital can only dream of achieving. In our digital world, it’s easy to see why this is becoming a trend in the world of printed POS. This trend brings the bright colours, graphical shapes and textures we’re so used to seeing on screen into the real world.
We’ve seen some great moves towards physical print recently. If you’re looking for ways to attract customer attention in-store by incorporating tactile elements into your POS, here are some ways we’ve loved seeing recently:
- Embossed textures
- Die-cut shapes
- 3D printing techniques
- Scented inks
- Heat sensitive inks
We expect to see these trends transforming POS in 2025. Getting ahead of the curve with emerging POS trends ensures you’re poised to make a lasting impression.
